ASEAN Bankers convene in Bali

The Bankers Association of the Philippines (BAP) sent a delegation to the ASEAN Bankers Conference and Council meeting in Bali, Indonesia on November 10 to 12, 2010. The assembly was attended by National Banking Associations and senior bank executives from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. The Asean member countries convened to share best practices relative to banking education, regional relations, trade and finance and other common areas of concerns.

The Philippine delegation to the ASEAN Bankers Conference and ASEAN Banking Council was headed by BAP President and concurrently BPI President, Aurelio R. Montinola III, UCPB President Ramon Y. Sy and former BAIPHIL Director Wilfredo S. Talastas.

The Bankers Institute of the Philippines (BAIPHIL) was ably represented with the active participation of President Emmanuel E. Barcena, former BAIPHIL President Lydia C. King, representing the academe being a faculty member of the Ateneo Professional Schools, and former BAIPHIL Director Wilfredo S. Talastas, the latter acting as Chairman of the ASEAN Permanent Committee on Banking Education.
