PNB Chair & PP of BAIPhil Flor Gozon-Tarriela talks on Banking, Environment & Health

The guest speaker for the General Membership Meeting last February 23, 2010 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Makati City is a luminary close to the hearts of BAlPhil family, having been its Past President who has the singular honor of being the recipient of the Institute’s “Distinguished Lady Banker” award. In this assembly, she comes home to BAlPhil to discuss “Banking, Environment and Health.”

She holds the dual distinctions of being the first woman chair of the Philippine National Bank and of being the first Filipino lady Vice President of Citibank, N.A. (Philippine Branch). She was also a former Undersecretary of Finance.

Her current affiliations include being Chairman, PNB ltaly SpA, Chairman, PNB Capital and Investment Corporation, Director of Philippine Bible Society, Trustee of Summer Institute of Linguistics, Director of Makati Garden Club and member, Fern and Nature Society.

She is a writer who expresses her thought straight from the heart. A long with Butch Jimenez, she co-authored “Coincide or Miracle?” Books I, II and III with focus on Blessings in Disguise,” and “Oops…Don’t throw those Weeds Away! (“a book to fight poverty by planting weeds that are useful and edible). She also writes the column, “Business Options” for Manila Bulletin.


She graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree in Business Administration, major in Economics and obtained a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she topped the Master’s Comprehensive Exams, completing the M,A. degree with an “A” average in three quarters.

She is married to lawyer Edgar Tarriela. They have three (3) children: Edgar Jr. (married to Jaquilou Rivera), Ted Michael (married to Vanessa Andres) and Tricia (married to Tom Valderrama) and who gave them their first grand child Fernando.
