BAIPHIL hosts 1st Credit Forum (August 26, 2010)

The BAIPHIL Credit Committee convened its 1st Credit Forum with 41 attendees composed of Appraisal Heads, Credit Cycle Heads and Credit Group Heads from 29 banks on August 26, 2010 at the BPI Executive Lounge, Makati City.

Beatriz F. Callo, VP & Compliance Officer of Philippine Postal Bank, opened the assembly with the invocation while BAIPHIL President Emmanuel E. Barcena, VP, PCHC, delivered the welcome remarks. Teresita S. Galvadores, FVP, Chinatrust (Phils.) Commercial Bank Corporation and Director-in-charge of the Credit Committee, gave the introduction and backgrounder. Credit Committee Chair, Marichu Daisy S. Jimenea, VP, BDO, introduced resource speaker, Asuncion A. Saplala, who shared her 20 years experience as Credit Cycle Head, President of a Card Company of both foreign and a local bank and as consultant for various companies, among them, financial institutions, telcos, parmaceutical and manufacturing concerns.

Marichu Daisy S. Jimenea briefed the participants on the Real Property Database System (RPDS), a BAIPHIL project conceptualized during the term of then BSP Governor Rafael Buenaventura. This was discussed in detail by Bonifacio S. Santos VP & Compliance Officer, MEGA ICBC and Manuel R. Batallones Manager, BAP Credit Bureau.

Inspired by the encouraging feedback gathered from the first Credit Forum, the Committee is firming up plans for a seminar on Credit Frauds-Awareness, Red Flag Signals, Preventive Components, Tightened Controls and Risk Mitigating Factors. Target participants are Credit personnel of banks and Operations and Branch Personnel.
