BAIPhil marks 3rd Training and Development Week

The Bankers Institute of the Philippines, Inc. (BAIPhil) celebrates its third BAIPhil Training and Development Week on March 8-13, 2010 pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1248 declaring the second week of March of every year as such. This year’s theme is “Transforming Potentials into Real Strength and Growth.”

BAIPhil President Susan R. Alcala-Uranza, FVP, Bank of Commerce, announced the program of activities for the week-long celebration to be kicked off on March 6, 2010 at BTI, Kanlaon Tower by seminar on “Taxation of Banks” conducted by Atty. Benedicta Du-Baladad, Managing Partner, BDB Law Office.

The first of the Series on Derivatives Development Program entitled “Financial Math on Money Market and Bonds” with Gregorio V. Rubio, FVP, Security Bank as lecturer will be also launched on March 6 at the Brasserie 21, Security Bank Center, Ayala Avenue.

On March 8, 2010. Holy Mass will be offered at the BTI, Kanlaon Tower with Fr. Titus Mananzan, SVD as celebrant. A special Philippine Star Supplement will be published on March 8 to commemorate the anniversary.

A seminar on “Financial Literacy” for the beneficiaries of the Overseas Contract Workers will be hosted on March 8 by the Special Projects Committee chaired by Marilen M. Ruiz. Project coordinators are Carmelita R. Araneta, EVP-Operations Sector Head, Bank of Commerce, and Articer O. Quebal, SVP& Head, Remittance Center, DBP.

A seminar on “CRM.. . Beyond Customer Information Unleash the power of your customer information to optimize profit opportunities” hosted by the Automation and Technology Committee chaired by Philip Casanova, AVP & Information Security Officer, China Bank, will be held at the AIM C onference Center on March 11, 2010.

The week-long celebration will be capped by a General Membership Meeting on March 12 ( Friday) at Hotel Intercontinental Manila, Makati City. Guest speaker is Dr. Jesus P. Estanislao, Chairman of the Institute of Corporate Directors.

On March 13 BAIhil Training Institute will conduct a seminar on “IFRS9- Financials Instruments; Impact to Banks with speakers: John Philip Te, Head, Structures & Financial Eng. Dept & Balance Sheet Mgt. Dept., BOC and Aldwin Ang, Senior Manager, Credit Risk Mgt Dept., AUB, while the Provincial Participation Committee will host a seminar on “Anti-Money Laundering Law ( as amended PLUS Trends & Typologies, KYC & Updates) back-to-back with Understanding & Deterring Bank Fraud” at Villa Caceres Hotel, Naga City. Speaker is Dante Fuentes, VP & Compliance Officer, China Bank. The 6th BAIPhil Badminton Invitational Tournament will be held in the morning at Yonex Badminton Club, Mandaluyong City.
